The Iloilo Tax Congress 2025, co-presented by Reyes Tacandong & Co., gathered around 120 participants composed of PCCI Iloilo members and other business owners at Hotel del Rio, Iloilo City for an afternoon of learning on tax strategies, corporate governance, and legacy planning.

Now on its 4th run since its launching in May 2024, the Iloilo Tax Congress has established itself as a key learning platform for the local business community. The program was launched in partnership with ACPAPP Iloilo, Inc., led by its president Ms. Irma Lim, and continues under this partnership to this day. Its 2nd and 3rd installments were hosted by private firms, while this latest run was co-presented by Reyes Tacandong & Co. The 2025 edition was chaired by Ms. May Joyce Galanto.

The event opened with welcome remarks from Mr. Joseph C. Bilangbilin, Partner at Reyes Tacandong & Co., who highlighted the importance of proactive tax planning and sound governance as foundations of business sustainability.

Two keynote learning sessions followed:

  • “Know Your Taxes, Protect Your Legacy – Tax Basics Every Family Business Must Master” by Atty. William Benson S. Gan, Partner for Tax Services and Head of the Tax Advocacy Group, RT&Co.
  • “Governance Gaps, Tax Traps – Why Good Corporate Governance Is Good Tax Strategy” by Mr. Geocel D. Olanday, Senior Advisor for Sustainability & Strategic Corporate Governance Advisory Services, RT&Co.

The sessions were enriched with practical examples, providing participants with actionable strategies to avoid costly tax pitfalls, strengthen governance structures, and preserve family legacies.

The program culminated in an engaging panel discussion featuring Atty. Gan, Mr. Olanday, Mr. Bilangbilin, and Atty. Senen Antonio B. Lainez, Principal for Tax Services at RT&Co. The panelists shared case-based insights and addressed questions from participants on how tax and governance concepts apply in real-world business scenarios.

In his closing remarks, Engr. Fulbert C. Woo, President of PCCI Iloilo, expressed gratitude to Reyes Tacandong & Co., the resource speakers, and ACPAPP Iloilo, Inc. for their continued partnership. He emphasized that the chamber will pay forward the trust of its partners by ensuring that its members continue to benefit from relevant, high-quality learning opportunities.

The Iloilo Tax Congress remains a vital platform for businesses in Western Visayas to gain clarity, confidence, and compliance in managing tax responsibilities while embracing good governance for sustainable growth.
