On May 1, 2025, a significant milestone for the Western Visayas startup ecosystem was marked as the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry Iloilo Chapter, Inc. (PCCI Iloilo), the Department of Science and Technology Region VI (DOST VI), Iloilo Science and Technology University (ISAT-U), and Converge ICT Solutions Inc. held a ceremonial signing of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for the provision of free high-speed internet connectivity across innovation spaces in the region.

The agreement, sealed at the ISAT-U Regional Innovation Hub during the Labor Day celebration, ensures that the university’s Kwadra TBI, the Innovation Hub, and other Technology Business Incubators (TBIs) and innovation hubs (iHubs) in Western Visayas will be connected to reliable, high-speed internet—critical infrastructure for supporting startups, MSMEs, and student researchers.

This initiative is part of the PCCI Iloilo INSYNC Program (Innovation Synergy for New Creations), spearheaded by PCCI Iloilo President and ISAT-U Regent Fulbert Woo, together with Mr. Francis Gerona. The program aims to bridge private sector resources with innovation ecosystem needs, particularly in connectivity, mentorship, and startup development.

The event gathered regional startup ecosystem enablers and highlighted the power of cross-sector collaboration. It also sets the stage for the next wave of Government-Industry-Academe partnerships, with the Iloilo Provincial Government set to roll out its own startup development program soon.
